The Controversial Origin of Chess

Chess is the game of popular pastimes and has been described as the art and science. The two player strategy board game is known for its elite players of Kings, Queens, Rooks, Knights, Bishops and Pawn. The game is often seen as the abstract of ‘Mental Martial Art’. The game is known for the significant strategies. It was in the late 600 AD when Chess evolved for the first time and today the modern manufacturing methods are indulged to give a mass production to the game. The compulsive game of Chess is divided into three stages of opening, middle game and the end game. The three stages of Chess have led to the publication of various books for the strategies of chess.

Indian Origin: The history of Chess unfolds the fascinating tales from divergent countries on the Globe. Various Scholars from numerous Nations have proposed various origins for Chess. The exact time and place of origin of chess is always debated. The Chess is known as the descendent of a game called Chaturanga which was played in 600 AD in India. Chaturanga is a Sanskrit word that refers to the Army divisions that includes Elephants, Chariots, Cavalry and Infantry. Indians claim the origin of Chess from the times of Mahabharata. It is believed that the game portrays the Indian Military Strategies.

Iranian Origin: Iran as the area of origin of Chess is highly debated because of two excavated debate pieces from the second century CE, which were found in the area of the Iranian Cultural Domination.  Date back in 7th century chess was a game that was mentioned in the documents Iran. Muslim writers who introduced Chess in India frequently stated that they took the game of ‘Shatranj’ from the Iranians who called it ‘Chatranj’. The situation was analyzed in the middle of a political-cultural revolution, which has been analyzed in the Historical Texts. The Quasi is ethnically of Iranian Origin so the Iranian dominance became clearly the focal point in the cultural renaissance. Large number of previous knowledge came from the ancient Iran and was compiled into Arabic. Chess was the only the part of this knowledge packaged together with earlier mathematical, astronomical, philosophical achievements.

Persian and Arabian Origin: The Persian Empire relevance to the origin of chess was known as the Sasanian dynasty or the Sassanid Empire and ruled Iran. The chapters in the history relate the legend of the invention of Chess following a Civil war between the two sons of a Queen. The game is also mentioned in the ‘Karnamak’ (Book of Deeds). In the Arabian Empire, after the death of Prophet Muhammad in 632 A.D, the Persian Empire had been conquered by the Moslem Empire. Even though, the status of Chess was uncertain in the codes established by Quran. The culture of early Islam gave us the first work of Chess Literature.

The above mentioned credentials state that the origin of the game Chess has always been the controversial topic. Although, the game comes with the royal style of play also includes great strategies and mental exercises.
